Building an
Idea
The first
step in using A Word in Season
Language Arts Curriculum is to read the publication Building an Idea: A
Guide Book for a Christian Approach to Teaching the Arts of Reading and
Writing to all Ages K-12. This practical manual is designed for
teaching a writing program for all ages. Created for teachers, this
comprehensive guide explains a workable method for establishing a weekly
writing workshop. This book provides a great deal of helpful information
for presenting language arts: listening, imitating, reading, thinking,
speaking, and writing. The introduction relates the problems of illiteracy
beginning in the mid-twentieth century and shows a biblical illustration
from the life of David of how parents can provide for their child's
future. The book includes a discussion of a writing teacher's role, an
outline of skills to be taught, methodology for teaching specific skills,
and a design for teaching language arts.

Authors,

The book
Authors, Authors is a chronological annotated bibliography of the best
writers of western culture from the beginning of times through 1800. This
unique book lists each author's name, works, and brief biographical
information in chronological order and is a primary reference source used
extensively in Units 1-4. This book, listing the Great Books, is a must
for the teacher interested in using primary sources to teach humanities.
